Hi Friends,

I AM BACK HOME!
We arrived last night.
I missed all of you!
I was missing my little Merlin so much that I couldn't wait to get him from boarding! That was the first thing I did this morning. When I saw him, he looked like an orphan. Poor baby! The tech said she gave him a bath yesterday but it wasn't a good one by my standards. :(
He was so happy to see me. His little tail was wagging up a storm! LOL
I brought him home, and gave him a really good bath! Now he smells so clean and sweet. :)
Wow, it is already November 6 th. How time flies. I can't believe we were gone for 32 days. :(
I had two boxes of mail delivered to me today. It was so much fun opening all the swap parcels. It was like Christmas! :)
It wasn't all fun though, some bills were waiting for me too. :(
I have a stack of magazines and catalogs to read too. Will save the catalogs for more recycled art! :)
On our trip we bought a home! We will be moving back to Florida possibly in December. Keeping fingers crossed that we sell our home here in AZ soon.
So now the fun begins of packing and getting the home ready to be sold.
We have done this many times, so we know the drill as they say! :)

How are all of you doing?

I am still on vacation but had to work on this Mini Sock Monster Swap for my online group Fiber Art Traders that will be due the first week in November. :)

I had fun making them and giving them names. Big or Little Monsters must have names you know. :)

My black and while monster I have named Lugano. The other one is Fork and his little buddy (doll) is Creepy. Creepy has only One Eye! LOL

Carzy me forgot to leave a post when I left that, I would be away on vacation visiting my daughters in Florida. :(

A while ago an online friend Vic , shared with us on CPS a new thing she had discovered online on Maggie Grey's blog. Maggie Grey is a wonderful artist in the U.K and she is the one that came up with this cool technique which she called "Killing Catalogs"or "Killed Catalogs" I won't go into the whole procedure that Maggie goes through but you can read all about it on her blog:

Look on the sidebar for Killed Catalogs

A Killed Catalog is basically a catalog that you Kill by wetting it and then transforming it into a work of art. It is a great way to Recycle old catalogs that you receive in the mail and have no use for. But now you do! :)

My approach and result to her technique is very different. I always like to play around with things and make it My Own. :)

October Letter E Quiltie

Here is my Quiltie for October from our ongoing Alphabet Quiltie Swap. This swap is from my group, Fabric In Altered Art 2.

For October we are up to Letter E. So my Letter E is for "Elephant".

While looking through my stash of fabrics, I came across some nice samples of woven upholstery fabrics that I didn't remember I had. :)

So I loved the colors on a specific one and used that one as my background fabric. I just love the colors on it. Reminds me so much of India.

I made a pattern for my elephant and had a doubt on what color I should make my elephant.

So I thought of brown but it wouldn't go well with the background fabric so I went with Gray.

I wanted to give him a 3D ear and did that too. :)

An elephant from India must have beads somewhere, so I gave him some . Right, Shashi? :)

Surprise Mail from My Friend, Myra!

Yesterday, I received a surprise envelope in the mail from my friend, Myra.

I love surprises! Don't you? :)
I couldn't wait to get home to open it!
Myra sent me the most gorgeous little Witches Boot that she stitched her magic onto it. :)

Her stitching is perfect. :)

She also sent a lovely fabric PC and some wild orange trim.

Love it All! :)

She really made my day!

Keeping with the Halloween theme, I made this monster for another online swap.

I have named my monster "SeanTriple Goldteeth". LOL

Isn't his name perfect......He has Three Eyes so that is why his first name is SeanTriple

His last name is Goldteeth which is self explanatory! LOL

Monday's Photos of the Week

Now my lantanas are in the final bloom and look so pretty that, I had to take two photos of them.

In one of the photos you can see my water feature and the lovely yellow and tri-color lantanas by the side of it. The other photo is a close-up of one of the plants. I just love the little cluster like flowers and the butterflies love them too. :)

Too bad that in late November, I have to cut them all back so they are ready to bloom come next Spring. They do dry up so you have to cut them back. :(

September Letter D Quiltie!

Hi Friends,

Here is my Quiltie for September from our ongoing Alphabet Quiltie Swap. This swap is from my group, Fabric In Altered Art.

For September we are up to letter D. So my Letter D is for "Day of the Dead!"

The lady skeleton has dimensional flowers on her hair, french knots on her dress and a beaded fringe on the bottom of her dress.

The man skeleton has green beads all around the brim of his sombrero (hat) and some red french knots on the side of his pants. I hand stitched the Quiltie all around using a blanket stitch.

CLOTH DOODLE #3

I hope you are all doing well and having a lovely day!

I just finished this other Cloth Doodle. First I made a sketch of the things I wanted to have on my piece and then made all of the drawings from felt and hand stitched them onto the background fabric. I love French Knots as you can see! :)

I used to have the hardest time making French Knots until a friend of mine Ruth (who passed away) taught me how to do them. She was an expert on French Knots. Mine are still not as perfect as hers, but they look fine. :)

Cloth Doodle 2

I just finished working on my second Cloth Doodle. All the designs were drawn by hand and then stitched by hand using several embroidery stitches. I call this one "The Girl in the Garden."

I have another one that I started so when I finish it, I will upload it for all to see. :)

I am a bit behind with my photo but here it is. :)

I was working on this paper doll so this is my photo of the week.

I made the body of the doll using cardstock as the base and then covered the limbs with different scrapbooking papers.

I really had fun with the headpiece. It is made with different colors of friendly plastic that I melted and sculpted and then added the face piece and other bits. I really like the way it looks and hope you do too.

Stamped and Embossed Trees

Pearlescent Inks Background and Stamped and Embossed Images

Last night while I waited for True Blood to be on TV, I decided to have some fun with paper. :)

So I took out my Pearlescent inks, some embossing powders and stamps and started painting some backgrounds on paper. Then I stamped over them and embossed the images. I really like the way they came out. Now I might have to do some more. :)
